A UNIQUE RYE STYLE BEER WITH LOTS OF HISTORY
The Steam style originated in Germany in the mid 1800s. As an explosion in demand for Lager outstripped supply, some cooler, calmer lager fermentations would inevitably end up being left to ferment warmer and the resulting beer would be fruitier and bolder in character than the more refined pilsner style lagers. This newfound taste caught on and was named Steam beer in reference to the mists that would roll down the sides of the open top fermenters during a warmer more vigorous fermentation.
Brewed with rye, this beer is true to the original steam style, fusing the richer, warmer notes with the refreshing characteristics of a lager.
